East Bay Area Therapy Supports Keeping Families Together

“As Marriage and Family Therapists, we are intimately aware of how separating children from parents can critically harm the family unit and create long-term, adverse effects on both child and parental mental health.”
-Jan Mellinger, LMFT, President of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT)
Psychological publications indicate a devastating fear and panic around the possibility of forced familial separation and cite many biopsychosocial consequences. The California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT) confirms that forced familial separation is traumatic and affects behavioral, psychological, interpersonal, and cognitive development for the family members. Grace Pacheco, M.A., MFT is a lifetime member of The California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT).

We are providing psychological evaluations for immigration legal cases in the Spanish and English language via a secure video visit platform called Doxy.me. We are able to provide psychological evaluations for U visa (victims of violent crime), asylum, extreme psychological hardship/family waivers, T visa (human trafficking), and VAWA (domestic violence) cases. Clients typically take a pre-appointment online questionnaire in either Spanish or English and meet with Grace Ohikere, M.A., MFT for approximately 2 hours. A diagnosis is often assigned and a formal written report is provided to the bay area immigration attorney or paralegal assigned to the client's case. After consulting with the client's legal team, any important changes are made to the document to ensure perfection, and signed hard copies are mailed out to the immigration attorney's office and the client's mailing address. Although the psychological reports are written in English, we offer to translate psychological written reports into the Spanish language FREE OF CHARGE so that our monolingual clients can full understand their psychological evaluations, diagnoses, and recommendations for treatment.

To schedule a psychological evaluation, you can book online using the buttons at the footer of this website, call (510) 621-8143, or email us at Grace@EastBayAreaTherapy.com. We look forward to making your experience a positive one!
